This article relates to accounts created under the Mango Partner program.
The volume discounts available to partners allow our Partners to charge standard retail pricing for the Mango subscription, but benefit from the additional discounts available to Partners through volume selling of Mango subscriptions.
It is important to note the distinction between the subscription summary that the Partner Dashboard provides when creating or changing a subscription and the amount due when committing the creation or change.
The subscription summary is a quote for one billing cycle at the selected plan and add-ons at our standard retail pricing, inclusive of our standard billing period discounts in order for you to provide quotes for your customers. As Mango subscriptions are auto-renewing, this amount is an ongoing commitment.
The amount new is indicative amount of what you, the Partner, will be charged by us at the time of creating or modifying a subscription, and at each renewal.
Proration of charges for subscription changes to Active accounts
Proration is the time remaining in the current billing period divided by the time in the subscription's plan billing period. This is then multiplied by the per unit price to get the correct amount to charge and credit.
We only charge you for the remaining amount of time because the subscription will be billed the full price when the subscription bills at the end of the current billing cycle, so we want to make sure we don't over charge for the subscription and only charge for the actual time left to use the new subscription settings in this billing period.
Similarly, for downgrades we want to credit the what was paid for, but will not be used. Since the difference between the old subscription and new will not be used for the remainder of the billing cycle, this is the portion that is returned as a credit to your account.
Proration is calculated as follows:
(time remaining in current billing period / subscription's plan period) x (per unit price)
or, more specifically:
Upgrades via the Partner dashboard will display a prorata amount due now for the upgrade. This amount is a live amount, calculated down to the second, and therefore what is shown on screen may vary from what is billed.
The due today amount is shown inclusive of your current tier discount. If the proposed subscription change will push you to a higher discount tier, the amount due will not reflect the new tier.
The invoice emailed to the Partner billing email will reflect the final price charged to your account, and is inclusive of all eligible discounts and account credit carried forward.
