To add your data to a map, you first need to upload it to Mango. Uploading a supported dataset to Mango can be achieved in two ways:
Both methods will add the dataset to your data library in Mango, and will be available to add as a layer in any map.
All data uploaded to Mango is private, by default.

Uploading via the map editor
- To upload data via the map editor, first open the map you wish to add data to from your portal.
- Next, open the Layers panel from your administration sidebar on the left of the screen.
- In the Layer Settings panel, click the green Add Layer button, and then select Upload Map Data.
- Select the type of data you wish to upload, and click Select File to locate the file on your desktop.
Uploading via the data portal
To upload data from the Dataset Portal:
- open the Data portal on your administration sidebar, and click the Add New Dataset button.
- Select the type of data you wish to upload, and click Select File to locate the file on your desktop.
Updating datasets
Data can require updates often. Rather than start from scratch with a new layer, you can re-upload updated datasets in Mango and all visualisation layers in all maps using that dataset will automatically update.
To learn how to reupload datasets to update maps, see the chapter on Re-uploading data.
Editing and creating data
On the Business plan and above, you can edit attributes and geometry, as well as create new features in a dataset from any map that uses the dataset as a layer.
To learn how to create and edit features, see the chapter on editing data.
