Mango offers three add-on user roles in addition to the Account Owner:
- Administrators
- Data Editors
- Private Viewers
Each role determines a user's baseline ability to perform tasks in Mango. Access to specific maps and datasets is further controlled by access Groups. On maps, Groups grant VIEW or MODIFY permission. On datasets, Groups grant VIEW or EDIT permission.
Portal visibility for hidden and standalone maps: By default, hidden and standalone maps do not appear in any add-on user's portal — they are only accessible via the map URL. To make a hidden or standalone map appear in an add-on user's portal, add them to a Group with MODIFY permission on that map. This applies to all add-on user roles, including Private Viewers (who will gain portal visibility but not editing capability, since their role does not permit editing).
Maps with other Privacy settings (public, internal, password-protected) already appear in add-on user portals through the normal access mechanisms for those modes, and do not require MODIFY for portal visibility. Password-protected maps still require the map's unique password to open, even when visible in the portal.
Account Owner
The Account Owner has complete control over the account. An Account Owner can:
- view, create, edit, and delete all maps and datasets in the account, regardless of their Privacy settings or Group membership
- manage the subscription, add-on Users, and billing information
- see all maps and datasets in their portal, regardless of map- and data-specific Privacy settings
Administrators
The Administrator role is designed for data managers who need to create maps and datasets, and to edit maps and data created by other users, but don't need account-wide access.
To create Administrators, see Adding New Users.
An Administrator can:
- view any public map
- view any standalone map, if they have the URL; the map will also appear in their portal if they are a member of a Group with MODIFY permission on the map
- view any hidden map, if they have the URL; the map will also appear in their portal if they are a member of a Group with MODIFY permission on the map
- view any password-protected map in their account (the map appears in their portal automatically), provided they have the map's unique password to open it
- view any Internal map, if they are the map creator or if they are a member of a Group with VIEW or MODIFY permission
- create maps
- upload datasets
- reupload datasets, if they created the dataset or if they are a member of a Group with EDIT permission
- view any public dataset via the Data portal
- download any public dataset via the Data portal
- view any Internal dataset, if they are a member of a Group with VIEW or EDIT permission
- view and edit the features and geometry of any dataset, if they uploaded the dataset or if they are a member of a Group with EDIT permission
Data Editors
The Data Editor role provides access to view maps and edit attribute data and geometry on datasets, but cannot perform account-level changes such as map creation. Data Editors can view and edit geometry and attribute data of any dataset where they have EDIT permission through a Group.
To create Data Editors, see Adding New Users.
A Data Editor can:
- view any public map
- view any standalone map, if they have the URL; the map will also appear in their portal if they are a member of a Group with MODIFY permission on the map
- view any hidden map, if they have the URL; the map will also appear in their portal if they are a member of a Group with MODIFY permission on the map
- view any password-protected map in their account (the map appears in their portal automatically), provided they have the map's unique password to open it
- view any Internal map, if they are a member of a Group with VIEW or MODIFY permission
- view any public dataset via the Data portal
- download any public dataset via the Data portal
- view any Internal dataset, if they are a member of a Group with VIEW or EDIT permission
- view and edit feature attributes and geometry of datasets, if they are a member of a Group with EDIT permission
- reupload datasets, if they are a member of a Group with EDIT permission
Private Viewers
Private Viewers are view-only users who can be assigned to anyone inside or outside your organisation. The Private Viewer role is designed to provide Mango customers with a zero-cost method of sharing maps and data with external stakeholders, while maintaining the integrity of your organisation's data security.
Private Viewers cannot perform any map administration functions. Account Owners can create unlimited Private Viewers free of charge. Private Viewers are available on the Enterprise and Agency plans.
To create Private Viewers, see the Adding New Users documentation.
A Private Viewer can:
- view any public map
- view any standalone map, if they have the URL; the map will also appear in their portal if they are a member of a Group with MODIFY permission on the map (Private Viewers gain portal visibility but cannot use the edit capabilities that MODIFY implies)
- view any hidden map, if they have the URL; the map will also appear in their portal if they are a member of a Group with MODIFY permission on the map (Private Viewers gain portal visibility but cannot use the edit capabilities that MODIFY implies)
Everyone else (anonymous users on the internet)
Anonymous users can view any map or dataset with PUBLIC privacy settings, and can download any dataset marked PUBLIC.
An anonymous user can:
- view any public map
- view any standalone map, provided they have the map URL
- view any hidden map, provided they have the map URL
- view any password-protected map, provided they have the map URL and the map's unique password
- view any public dataset
- download any public dataset
